Today was a bit cooler and cloudier as we continued our survey in the north-central corner of the inter-ridge "bay" west of Lyusagyugh and east of the Kasakh, northeast of Aparan. Work commenced at the base of the planned forrest in the north-central portion of the bay, where "Transect 2" was completed at the end of yesterday. We flagged the burials that we discovered at the end of that transect northwards within a promontory bounded on both sides by rather deep gullies.
After flagging the burials, we moved down the ridge, "streaming" several architectural segments, several of which created a terrace that was populated by a burial sub-cluster. Most of the burials here consisted of stone piles or mounds atop a pushed up earthen mound, as if the burial had been installed perpendicularly into the hillside.
We then walked transect uphill towards what appeared to be water sources, spring heads. As we moved towards these greener areas (on Transect 3), we came across a set of 3 or 4 check dams within a shallow gully, as well as a sculpted spring head (carved into a three terrace hillock).
