We opened a 3mx4m trench up on a western terrace of Aparni Berd and called it AR/AN 1. It is the first test trench on the previously known, but un-excavated site. The trench location was decided based on two rocks which form a right angle, and we are hoping is the corner of a room. Locus 1 is the first layer of the trench and revealed mostly a carpet of rocks. Finds included obsidian, ceramics dating primarily to LB, and animal bones. The plan for the next day would be to find out which stones can be removed in order to further investigate the trench.
