Today I was back at Operation 1 at Aparani Berd. Locus 1 was closed and three new Loci were opened. Locus 2 ran a meter in along the east side of the trench where we found that the stones did not seem to form part of a structure and we removed them. Locus 3 was a small area in the Northwest corner of the trench and only yielded more stones. Locus 2 however yielded many finds which included EB and MB, mostly LB ceramics but also two or three sherds of a later Iron age or Achaemenid ceramic. Locus 4 was the second layer directly beneath where locus 2 had been. We continued to have a large number of Bone, Ceramic and Lithics. We also had two small finds: a bone spindle whorl and a piece of iron. Other interesting finds included a piece of spine with obsidian lodged in it and a small metal bearing rock. Further efforts would include exploring the layer under Locus 4 and perhaps trying to ascertain which other stones might also be removed.
