The survey team had quite the productive day today. We completed most of the remaining upland in the NE Aparan inter-ridge bay region of our survey.
The morning began with walking transects in the north-central portion of the bay. It was quite the trek! There, we noted a number of hydrological features from check dams, to springs and even a soviet era water management system (or sluice) Ar/Ar.GB.10. With historical and more contemporary models, the significance of water flow management in this area is clear.
From there we went down the mountain towards the center of the bay and walking southward (east of the predominant bay drainage). We recorded numerous burials and architectural features that were situated at the base of the slope. One of these architectural features Ar/Ar.GB15.11 appears to be a three (possibly four) sided. It seems possible that this was some sort of house foundation.
Moving from north to south we continued to catalog burials until we arrived at the edge of our previous work (July 3). This area appeared to have been greatly disturbed by tree furrows as well as other construction activities.
