Narrative

Today we took transect 13 running north to south along the west bank of the Kasakh river. I was planning to run about a Kilometer and a half, however we only made it a very short part of the way before encountering a complex that might have been either a fortress or a settlement. We encountered several burial clusters along the river including several right by it, while others were higher up on terraces. Surface finds for the day included a few flakes of obsidian and a few non-diagnostic sherds as well as a larger sherd that might date to the medieval period. Because we encountered the "fortress" we stopped our transects and searched for surface materials, which were sparse.
