On today's half day survey expedition, the KVAS team worked its way through one long transect (24). This recorded an area further west in the Nigavan region. In the beginning of the transect we noted the presence of a few isolated burials and architectural segments. As we made our way south (and up hill) it became fairly clear that we were coming upon yet another potential fortress/ settlement (Ar/Ni/AG15.53). On the large terrace, we noted the presence of a potential entrance way (characterized by two parallel walls), as well as a cyclopian wall enclosing the base (circumference) of the elevated "fortress" hill. The terrace itself was quite large and could have easily been utilized for a number of different purposes. As we went up to the fortress top, we recorded the presence of a number of walls. These, like those we have encountered in the past few days, were constructed from the outcrop. They were faced and appeared in significant lengths. As we continued our survey downslope we noted, exterior to the fortress, walls that appeared to indicate extramural corridor or room spaces. Unfortunately, there was almost no surface material in our transect today. We found a few pieces of obsidian, but the quest for diagnostic pottery continues.
