In SLT1 we're further expanding west to follow locus 22 wall. Expansion is now about 2x6.5m. Finished topsol today, which I'm keeping as locus 56, with the light silty clay below locus 57. Will divide loci horizontally when we get down to the wall, differentiating inside and outside construction. In locus 60 probe into locus 44 stone floor, came down on what it likely the continuation of the main clay surface locus 47. Took measurements and a small (but potentially valuable as we try to determine sequence of floor construction) carbon sample (Ar/Ts.SLT1.60.C14.1). As we take down locus 45 floor, there are very few artifacts, and it's quite gravelly as we come down on locus 39 floor below. Broke and removed most of the stones tipped over in fortification wall vandalism. In SLT3, we're taking out the last of locus 13 near stones in SW corner of trench under arch. Recovered a handstone fragment where the carbon chunks have been coming from (Ar/Ts.SLT3.13.L.2).
