The first field day of 2016 has me returning to the KVAS survey, working on new transects in the vicinity of Aparan with a slightly revamped crew. We had a late start due to vehicle logistics, 10AM.
In the morning, we provided a tour of the area around the sites of Nigaberd 4-6, examining burials and architectural features with the crew. In the afternoon, we began survey from the southeastern corner of the ArAGATS Tsaghkahovit Plain survey, working E-W transects from just south of the village of Nigavan to the western edge of the 2016 Nigavan quadrant boundary. After encountering an interesting, E-W elongated cluster of cist and kurgan burials constructed from small cobbles, encircled by a well-built wall almost completely level with the turf. Heavy rain forced an early end to our day.
