Narrative

A short excursion has been conducted near Aparan in the area having been surveyed previously, including Nigaberd etc. Several recognizable archaeological features which should be recorded during survey have been introduced to us, such as stone walls, kurgans with mounded stones, fortifications and so forth.

In the afternoon, the first archaeological survey of this season began in Nigavan and started from the northeastern corner of a previous survey area at the slope of the Mount Aragats. Half of the transect 1 has been finished. A cromlech is located close to the starting point of my transect (lat. 40.602880 Long. 44.301781) and then the transect went into a riverbed, which is able to be detected from the Google Maps. Afterwards, a large amount of big rocks scattered on the ground, but the border of them is not clear and whether they formed any archaeological sites is still questionable. The last site I have recorded today is an isolate kurgan being disturbed.

The survey was terminated by the heavy rain.
