Narrative

This morning we expanded our operations in T 38. We extended a meter north and a meter east in order to better understand the configuration of the architecture exposed in yesterday's operations. Given the depth of the deposit in the eastern half of the unit, removing the topsoil and underlying sediment took the better part of the day. While we reached the level of the previously unearthed architecture in the northern half of the unit, we still have some soil left to remove in the eastern section. It is already clear that the architecture extends, but not necessarily in any anticipated configuration. Off of the curvilinear wall there appear to be two more linear two by two stone walls. Hopefully we can better understand this planning when the unit is cleaned and the extension is complete. The topsoil and following loci of the extension have proffered a considerable amount of pottery. These materials continue to be almost exclusively EB. I have encountered minimal fauna/ bone and obsidian remains. At this point, we are now sieving materials from loci adjacent to the architecture. While we have no encountered a floor or surface, there does seem to be some pottery that could be in situ. I will investigate this more closely once the big soil movement is complete.
