Narrative

Today on the western slope of Gegharot we continued our investigation in T38. Most of the day was consumed with continuing the expansion of the unit from a 5x5 to a 6x6. While the north region almost matches the remainder of the operation, there is still considerable work to be done on the east.

The northern extension revealed that the NE - SW oriented wall continues northward, and is in fact quite long. While the orientation/ configuration of the built environment remains confusing, I continue to welcome the presence of walls! At this stage it has become necessary to construct a number of loci spatially rather than by distinct soil matrices. The density of the pottery in this new area is considerably less than that of those in the previous days. Nevertheless we still had a few bags of EB material collected. Hopefully this weekend we will begin reading some of this pottery to try and identify what phase this trench represents.

Tomorrow we will continue to trace and articulate the wall, hopefully completing this extension and possibly beginning the next. I hope to better define the loci and take the appropriate elevations as well.
