Narrative

Today we walked a single transect 24 north from the spot where the Kasakh crosses the M3 until the main road of Mirak. It was necessary to circumvent a number of barley fields as well as the river gorge. I recorded four soviet water cisterns connected by a system of pipes. At the end of the transect from the gorge to the road was an extensive artifact scatter, much obsidian and a few non-diagnostic sherds. On the way back Karen and I walked along the bottom of the gorge only finding one rock shelter-like site where there was quite a bit of obsidian, including evidence of debitage. Finally we drove over to Melikyugh and ruled out a group of rock piles as burials before we were rained out.
