Narrative

Today at Gegharot we continued to level out our 6x8m extension, tracing loci 9 and 10 in particular. Fortunately for us the architectural features continue to expand into the northern, eastern, and southern baulks. The plan, to date, is to enlarge our operation in T38 over the next few days and further clarify the orientation/ configuration of the built environment. Over the course of today's efforts -- prior to getting cut short by thunderstorms -- we articulated the stones in L13 and unearthed a considerable amount of pottery, including a number of diagnostic EBII sherds. In the southeast region of the unit we uncovered a cluster of stones adjacent to/ north of wall 10. It is unclear if this pile is collapse, flow, or a distinct feature. Since we have finally brought the previous extension to meet the remainder of the unit tomorrow we will start yet another expansion. The corpus of materials continue to date exclusively to EB (and mostly EBII) and the density remains high in the areas adjacent to these increasingly definable areas. Hopefully the weather will be in our favor and we can further investigate the nature and use of this EB area of occupation.
