Narrative

Continuing to work on Ar/An.OP4d. Started with locus 1, and opened up locus 2 after a soil change. Found mostly ceramics and obsidian, and no bone. Where I am may have poor bone preservation. It is still unclear if there is architecture or if I have rock fall against a terrace wall. It certainly seems like there is terracing, but if it is associated with a structure is unknown. Since the trench was on a slope, it is difficult to understand the context of the ceramics. Most of the sherds from the trench are very chunky and poorly fired. However, in locus 2 I found a orange large handle in the northern wall. Ruben confirmed that it was an EB 1 handle. I also found a bowl with a small handle similar to trench 4a, which is also EB. At this point the majority of pottery seems to fall into the EB. Since most of the trench contained large rocks which appeared to fall down hill (they did not have rocks under them) we removed quite a few. However, those close to the eastern terrace wall appear to be building on each other and for the most part have been left in place. Tomorrow we may expand the trench to understand if we are dealing with terracing or if there is underlying architecture.
