Narrative

Today we walked the first two transects of the Ar/Ag region which is starts close to Mt. Aragats and will eventually work it's way down to the village of Aragats. Transect 25 headed North and the transect was very hilly, muddy, and intersected a number of small tributaries, water runoffs and springs. In several of these runoffs and in the cow paths leading into them I found a few small obsidian worked pieces. The obsidian was scattered from the beginning to the end of the transect. I also recorded a soviet cistern near the middle of the transect which means that some water pipes were surely laid down in this region at some point. Karen found a fortress on a hilltop a little West of the transect but it had substantial walls as well as an associated building below it. Transect 26 ran south. Near the beginning there was a short wall I recorded with stones that were well organized and stacked smaller stones on top of a line of boulders. Near the end of the transect I found a single artifact scatter of worked obsidian in cow paths leading up a hill from drainage.
