Narrative

Today we spent the first half of the morning ground truthing a medieval fortress with a bronze age fortress that we had heard about. We located the bronze age fortress and collected a number of diagnostic sherds and some obsidian. Soon after we were rained out of the region we moved our survey to Kuchak. We did one kilometer long transects to and from the main highway. Transect 27 ran west and I recovered two artifact scatters near a known Bronze age fortress. Transect 28 ran east and we recovered a substantial collection of diagnostic sherds and lithics. Transect 29 ran west and again artifact scatter was collected from the area at the base of the hill the fortress was on. There are cow paths surrounding the hill and as the fortress in on the hill many artifacts have washed down and become exposed due to the heavy traffic. Transect 30 was our final transect of the day and ran east. As it was furthest from the fortress this transect contained the least amount of surface collection.
