Started new trench in the morning, SLT5, off the SW corner of SLT1. It's a 3.5x4.5m trench separated from SLT1 by a 1m baulk. The goal is to expose more of the SLT1 floor and find another corner of the room. Took off topsoil today. In SLT4 we exposed another section of stones in NW portion of trench within locus 6 clayey layer. Cleaned the stones and it appears the are nothing so we'll remove them tomorrow. In southern half of trench we can't seem to find orange bedrock layer. But there was a gray clayey layer in SE portion of trench in which a possible human mandible was recovered. This clayey layer is locus 7.
