Working on Sunday sucks. But we had 2 half days to make up for... supposedly there will be less rain starting Tuesday. Everyone was a little goofy.
But at least we had a full day and finally made enough progress to get photos of the cobble construction (locus 4). Teaching the team how to excavate... they are getting better, but still not so great. The soil is so wet and has a high clay content, we really have to drag the pick through it to move soil. The guys tend to pick at the soil as if they were breaking up clods of dry dirt, which really just lets the clay reattach and doesn't do much... so... slow. And of course, the clay is difficult to get off the rocks and then easily gets spread back over already cleaned ares. And I can't get them off the rocks! Arrrg. This all leaves SW, LA, and myself doing a lot of actual excavating.
But triumph in that we got the edges of the cobble pile cleaned off by the end of the day and can now take it out.
We also had at 3 broken vessels (or parts of vessels) between the southern edge of the comlech and the edge of another cromlech that continues outside of T01. These took time to excavate. Got some quick photos and measurements. Not certain if we have all the sherds yet.
