After being completely rained out yesterday, we had a full day of work in the Kuchak survey quadrant (only 20 minutes of light, workable rain), beginning with section at the upper end of the quad, triangle abutting the M3 highway to the east (approximately halfway between Kuchak and Aparan).
Our focus then moved to N-S transects northwest and then west of Kuchak Village. We identified a lot of Soviet clearance walls here, as well as large numbers of rock piles. In addition, we recorded several series of what appear to be older clearance or terracing walls, constructed of smaller stones (large pebbles) and more silted in, embedded in the ground. These still look like clearance, but they may be significantly older, and also used to divide up fields.
Two possible corrals were also recorded today, Ar/Ku.AG16.20 was the one I inputed, although they may also be part of the aforementioned field walls. In general, this region north of Kuchak II has produced rather low site frequencies so far.
