Rain and hail was upon Gegharot today and we were forced to call it a study day. Fortunately, the day inside proved to productive. Ruben, Armine, and I read the pottery from loci 1, 2, and what was available of locus 6. We also read the pottery from all of the trenchettes. The results (no surprise!) were overwhelmingly homogenous. Almost all of the pottery was EB and all of the diagnostic sherds were EBII (karnut-shengavit). Sitting with the dynamic duo I learned a considerable deal about the differences among EB (I and II), MB, and LB pottery. From texture to design elements I now feel like I have a much clearer idea of what constitutes each period.
