Narrative

Operation extension (round 15) continues... Today was a slow but productive one. While my allergies (and hangover) certainly did not help to pass the time, bit by bit we are working through our newest two meters to the north. The westernmost part is already level with locus 7 and we have traced the continuation of locus 9. Interestingly, there seems to be a concentration of stones to the north of locus 9. While it is unclear if these do in fact constitute a wall, they do appear to be arranged in a linear fashion. There is also an incredibly high concentration of cultural material outside the wall. On the eastern side of the extension we have successfully uncovered the continuation of locus 15. The wall does appear to continue into the northern baulk. The density of materials in locus 6 is comparable to that of its previous iterations. Fairly high, but characterized mostly by smallish sherds.

In between rounds of shoveling and barrowing we have started to clear out locus 13 to expose locus 16 underneath. This task is complicated by the presence of human remains in locus 18. The remains appear to be scattered throughout the three meters between the capstone and edge of locus 13. Tomorrow we plan to continue this process while (hopefully) finishing the extension. Ideally (pending any suggestions to extend yet again) we will start excavations of the unit on monday.
