Narrative

Today we spent the morning ground truthing two separate sites we had spotted on QGIS. The first site appeared to be a settlement with several clear structures and rooms that stretched across the ridge of a hill. It is likely that this settlement is medieval however due to how overgrown the walls were it was not possible to gather surface collections. The settlement is located far west near the Kuchak/Aparan quadrant border, but securely in Kuchak. The second settlement we investigated and recorded was further southwest and fairly high up on Aragats. This settlement seemed similar to the first in the structure of its walls and was again lacking in surface collections although there was quite a bit of obsidian scattered nearby. This site was also accompanied by several stelae or stela-type stones which appeared to be fairly modern and created a line along the ridges of hills from the settlement south. Upon descending from the mountain we were caught in a rain storm, and subsequently stranded in mud for three hours. This cut our workday short.
