The second row of rocks do not appear to go down, but the first row facing west do continue. I had the workers dig down and flatten out locus 4. Since most of the architecture was destroyed when the cows entered the trench I decided to expand to a 2 x 3 in order to determine if the trench actually has viable architecture. The southern wall also contained a lot of faunal material and ceramics, some of which is burnt. I decided to expand the trench in the southern most direction closer to a rock wall sitting on the surface. One observation about aparani berd is that possible stone architecture on the surface does not always indicate architecture below. Many of the stones that appear to be bedrock are actually just sitting on the surface. Most likely that have rolled down the hill at some point in the past.
