Today was made challenging by a fence around part of the survey area, surrounding an area that is meant to be some sort of nature preserve. We started our Transects 77 at the 4485100 northing, but most of our transects were interrupted within about 200 m by the preserve. We then walked transects inside the fence, only to discover the entire area was made quite dangerous by the planting activity, which left ankle-turning holes all over underneath the high grass. We ended up recording the extent of the fence and stopping the internal transects. After coffee, we went back in to ground-truth a site I'd found in the satellite, which turned out to be a very interesting fortress (Kuchak 3). Salpi found one piece of undiagnostic ceramic in the high grasses at the site, but its periodization is difficult to ascertain. The placement on a summit and the presence of possible terraces seem not dissimilar to Bronze Age, but the stones in the walls were well worked and organized with flat faces outward, which seems later than Bronze Age. And yet, the construction was also different from the Medieval settlements we've found, leading some of us to guess the period should be between Bronze and Medieval.
