Today we only walked two real transects in the morning. However as they were interrupted by a fenced in area these transects were broken up. Transect 77 and 78 both ran north only as far as the boundary of the fenced in area would allow. We learned earlier that this area has been fenced off to become a forest and is German funded. After two treacherous transects we decided to survey the perimeter of the fenced in area in order to mark it on the map. After we completed this we ground truthed a point on the map which turned out to be a fortress. There were large cyclopean walls and room blocks on the hill, which was within the fenced off area. About 150 meters east of the fortress I also recorded an artifact scatter of sherds. At the end of the day we located a road near Aragats village that could bring us close to the southern boundary of the survey area.
