The droning of Aparan II and Kuchak I occupied most of our time today, with the couple of remaining hours given to Gegharot settlement and kurgans tours (Sabrina Papazian visited us and the Fagans had also yet to visit the site this year).
At Aparan II, we required only one transect to capture the site, including the small hill across the road to the south (on the water) where we found a great deal of obsidian. The high grass impacted the visibility of the final images, but we were able to capture a large portion of the citadel wall and Muradyan's excavation contours on the citadel.
We then moved to Kuchak I to image the cemetery there, which extends northwest from the settlement/fortress towards the village of Vardenis. We captured the requisite imagery in three drone transects moving south to north, with excellent high visibility results--the cromlechs really popped out in the orthophoto. We also took the opportunity to input the cemetery into the geodatabase as a burial cluster (Vd quadrant) and input as many burials as we could unsystematically recognize (including those excavated by Levon Petrosyan).
