Today in T38 Gegharot we continued our expansion to south and began our 3 meter northern extension. It appears that we've got walls on all sides! The north-south easternmost wall is now a whopping 16 meters. The orientation on the slope is not entirely clear, as there appears to be a considerable amount of collapse in front of the wall. After we clear out the wash layers we will articulate the face of the wall and determine if and how we are going to expand the unit. I am putting my foot down and refuse to expand only 1 or 2 meters north or south! I have learned my lesson here -- no, i am not complaining about finding more architecture -- but these extensions seem to make the workers and myself alike a wee bit grumpy.
The pottery uncovered in these units -- to the surprise of absolutely no one -- was almost if not entirely diagnostic EB. I look forward to all that is to come in this magical unit. Hopefully the Gegharot weather gods can make the sun a little less strong. This is ruining my "I never burn" rep.
