Today was a hot one at Gegharot T38. Despite the heat, we moved, for lack of a better word, "crap-ton" of dirt in the northern and southern extensions. On both sides we uncovered contexts that appear to be collapse from the north-south terrace wall where we uncovered comparatively high concentrations of cultural material -- namely eb pottery and fauna. The sherds have definitely increased in number and size! Hopefully these extension units will reach the levels of the 2016 unit soon and we can get to the good part of excavations, which will hopefully elucidate the overall configuration/ nature of use in this mortuary complex and help us determine our next steps this summer!
