Today I focused on revealing more of the NW face of the wall in the trench. We tried as much as we could to dig the NW side of the trench down to bedrock and were, in large part, successful. Additionally some space between the bedrock and the wall collapse emerged. I took some Locus 02 and Locus 03 photos towards the end of the day. I also had the southern corner cleaned of soil as much as possible and taken down to rocks or bedrock. The only corner of the trench not cleaned in such a way is the E corner which is within the wall. Additionally, I measured the beginning and end of the Locus 03 soil change to bedrock. As well as the top of the wall, Locus 02, from the highest stone in the corner. It seems that starting tomorrow the space between wall and bedrock will be Locus 05 as the area under the Locus 01 in the E corner is Locus 04. Additionally, I removed several stones that appeared to be tumble or floating in the NW side of the trench either on the NW side of the wall or along the NW side of the trench, far from the wall. Tomorrow I will continue to take out stones that are identified as not being architecture. Because we didn't expand the trench further today, we will be deciding soon whether to expand this trench or if we can explore the E corner next. Another option would be to leave this trench without expanding and to work to clean the surface of the fortress wall on a lower terrace.
