Narrative

The majority of today was spent on the Tsakunyats range investigating the possibility of the existence of another hill fort directly over Saralanj, which would have been in excellent view of the nearby matrix of forts stretching from Kuchak to Nigavan. However, the monuments list was definitely not accurate, as there were no true signs of any architecture in the exact area, nor any significant surface material. There is, however, a cluster of earthen depressions that could very well have been late Medieval or possibly modern structures, but the fact that there is zero architecture visible from our location leaves that up for further debate. In terms of surface finds we collected about 3 or 4 small pieces of undiagnostic ceramic sherds, most likely Medieval. The weather was not in our favor so we descended the mountain by 1:00 and spent the rest of the afternoon documenting a couple of church / cemetery systems in Aparan.
