The first half of our day was dedicated to teaching the Aragats Summer Camp about archaeological surveying and how to identify sites. We brought six local girls to Aparani Berd and explained how to distinguish archaeological evidence from the landscape around it. It was fun to take them through the adjacent cemetery and ask them whether or not certain things were burials, naturally occurring, or amelioration. It was a nice break from the morning routines. After lunch at Gegharot we drove to Chknagh to investigate the possibility of an EB site, according to the monuments list. We came across a series of terraces on a hillside that looked vaguely reminiscent of Karnut. We found three very promising surface scatters of clear EB pottery and black and brown obsidian. Would very much like to continue here and fly a drone, or at least do some transecting.
