July 20, 2017. I went to Gegharot to help excavated the EB child's tomb since I only have to clean up the soil and take final photos etc. at T02. T38, locus 55.
The soil is very sandy and we could brush it away most of the time. The elements of the body had moved, but I think it all just collapsed down and moved since generally everything was in relation vertically (no leg bones by the skull, etc.). There was a peri-mortem blunt force trauma on the frontal bone above the eye socket. Half of it was perfectly round, 3cm, and the other was irregular and still connected the broken bone that was pushed in. Classic green bone skull fracture! grim, but exciting. That was certainly something.
Perservation was of course excellent, but uh, children, so many tiny bones! It was supposed to take an hour or two but took all day.
Seems very much like a sacrificial foundation burial.
