Today we cleaned up the most western part of the trench to expose some of the rocks. We also worked on the largest room, now locus 24, to bring it down to the closest thing to a floor. Below this hard packed clay there is a softer brown dirt. Ruben suggested that we focus on the most western half of the trench. We also went down in locus 21 which I turned into locus 23. This is below the beam burn layer. I kept on finding a heavy concentration of charcoal and what looks like late Bronze ceramics. We also found another burnt "beam" which ran east west and a smaller piece running northeast and southwest. Preliminary analysis suggests that all of these beams are oak, but I will need to confirm that with a microscope. Continued to take 15 liter soil samples across my 2x2 grid. These are pinch samples. Also floated the floor sample in front of the carved rock. This float had a lot of charcoal pieces.
