During the morning hours we completed a transect on an low slope just to the immediate NE of Chknagh. There had been much amelioration in this area, which seemed ideal for some kind of site like a settlement, and within a pile of rocks and some topsoil we found a surprising amount of ceramics including many body sherds and some handles. The period is unclear here but Alan said it could be "classical". We had a late start, and after lunch we attempted to ascend a difficult road to inspect a potential burial cluster with supposed kurgans and a possible fortress. However, the car was having issues getting up the hill and due to time constraints we had to abandon the endeavor for today, and will resume on Monday, 24 July.
