Today I wasn't feeling well and as a result we only worked till a little after noon. In that time we removed nearly all the soil from the trench expansion. In the E corner of the expansion we dug through all the soil which we called Locus 11 and corresponds to pre-expansion Locus 07. It revealed a similar carpet of rocks in the interior of the room much like we were expecting. On the outside of the wall we dug to the Locus just before bedrock (which is visible from the already excavated portion of the trench). We called the locus outside the wall and below Locus 10 Locus 12. It corresponds with Locus 03. We still have to take bottom elevations for these two Loci and photograph them. The line of the Locus 02 wall continues quite nicely so far with another large faced stone and one beneath it which have emerged. Next we will take outside the wall down all the way to bedrock and identify stones which can be removed from the interior of the room. Hopefully this extension will allow us to reveal the room.
