Today on the western slope of Gegharot we continued with operation T41. As I suggested in a previous journal entry, this operation was not situated over our target anomalies... Needless to say, we continued to face our pile of stones. Unsurprisingly, this pile -- while somewhat organized -- appears to be just a pile. We traced the presence of our dark matrix aka the area surrounding the rocks. As we continued to excavate there the density of ceramic materials decreased with depth. Bedrock was exposed in the Northeast corner against the eastern baulk and we excavated the compact matrix in the southeast side to see that it was, in fact, lying above bedrock. The trench has been drawn, the discussions have been had, and I *believe* tomorrow we will begin operation T42... in the intended area. The reason we originally believe this zone was correct (prior to starting T41) was that it overlies an area of drainage/ churned up ground. Accordingly *we* (excluding me) decided to go further north to avoid this area... Anyways, we will see what lies ahead. I am trying to get back in touch with my optimistic self which died one "anomaly' zone ago. Science man. Sometimes it's amazing and sometimes it's flat out difficult.
