Today at Gegharot things took a turn for the better in T42. It appears that science (also known as gpr) does in fact work! In the southwest corner of the unit we have what appears to be the early makings of some kind of architecture. The orientation and density of the stones we encountered led us to expand the unit from a 5x5m operation into a 5x7m unit. We expanded two meters to the south. It is clear that in the eastern half of the trench we have bedrock at a fairly shallow level (~40cm deep). We will likely expand the unit to the west tomorrow. The density of cultural materials has increased in the western area of the operation. To date, most of the materials are early bronze age. There is a low density of bone/ fauna, but it does appear to be increasing with depth. First impressions, is that I have a west/ east running wall as well as something running north-east. Hopefully this will become clearer with the expansion and we can remove some of the collapse.
