Week 5, Day 1. The survey team conducted several transects just west of Ttujur on the bottom stretch of the mountain slope. This area has multiple natural drainage areas but I did not find any artifacts within them. Alan noted a possible settlement just west of one of the drainage trenches I was exploring, but to my surprise I did not come across a single obsidian flake or ceramic sherd. On the transect back down the slope toward the road I found a dense field of obsidian flakes, blades, and cores, especially a gray core that stood out. I would very much like to get a clearer periodization on this artifact, if possible.
The second half of the day was spent documenting the cemetery / church complex in Ttujur, which is mostly 18th-19th c burials, before we explored the eastern extent of the greater valley, just beyond Dzoraglugh. Using the monuments list we located a destroyed mill and further east found some (most likely) early modern walls. I came across what I thought was either a raised cromlech or kurgan whose paving had been washed down off the face, making it difficult to discern what it is.
