Narrative

Today was my first day of transect walking this season. We spent the morning walking transects. We used the road as our starting and ending point furthest south, and the bottom of the mountains, or the drainages as our Northern boundary. Transect 31 was heading north, mostly through fields. I recorded a modern canal that was mostly created with cement. Transect 32 was heading south, it was mostly through some more churned up fields. I didn't record anything. Transect 33 was heading north. It started just west of a canal that I recorded as a canal trace about 4 meters across. Towards the end of the transect I recorded a scatter of obsidian at the base of a hill above a cut near a known obsidian source. Transect 34 was heading south and was just further east of our previous transect. There were two more obsidian scatters along this transect. They were both also near the known source and in large amounts in the eroded soil. In the second half of the day we groundthruthed several locations around T'tujur. In the village itself we confirmed a destroyed church, only some stones piled up were left, and a nearby cemetery, likely associated with it. Then we drove west of the village to record two different clusters of Buildings. I recorded the furthest east 'settlement'. A shepherd told us that there was a pre-soviet village in the area called Sari Bud and that it had consisted of 50 houses that were bulldozed in the early 20th Century.
