Week 5, Day 2. Transecting along the slopes just north of Ttujur and west of Dzoraglugh. The area covered this morning was primarily composed of a large drainage area littered with obsidian, mostly black/brown. Discerning diagnostic obsidian artifacts was difficult due to the sheer volume of (naturally broken) cobbles. Some retouched flakes and blades were retrieved but it would not be surprising if they are written off as naturally occurring breaks. As we moved eastward from the obsidian field the scatters and diagnostic artifacts were much easier to identify, where several flakes, blades, and cores were identified. I believe that any obsidian found within proper settlements and burial clusters in this valley would most likely originate in this drainage area, especially if they are brown or brown/black. No architecture or burials were found as the slopes were simply too steep to support occupation.
