Today we (me, Salpi, and Chris) completed our work surveying the northern flank of the Dzoraglukh valley, which stretches between Vardenis and Dzoraglukh villages. Ian and his family departed last night for the States.
We walked W/E transects in the area northwest of the village (due W of Dzoraglukh 1), recovering a number of lithic scatters, but no significant burial clusters of architecture, save one largely submerged arrangement of structures (or tombs?) due north of the village and due east of the modern cemetery.
The Medieval cemetery, located within and southwest of the modern cemetery, is quite interesting, with at least 3 or 4 extensive tomb groups, some of which spread south, toward and underneath the village. While obsidian pebbles and cobbles were quite common here, they were less so than within yesterday's T'tjur quadrant. Tomorrow, we will move south to work at Berdi Chairner.
