Week 5, Day 6. Today's surveying took place at Berdi Chairer. We attempted to locate three potential kurgans situated within Aragats village, as per the monuments list. There was enough amelioration and blockage due to fenced off property and recently planted fields that our search was called off without locating any. The remainder of the day was dedicated to performing north-south transects in proximity to the citadel complex. Walls were located north of the citadel, some of which could very well be modern constructions for agricultural purposes, and others were designated as potentially medieval. South of the citadel complex was more complicated as there was a large amount of bulldozing and intense collections of field stones that transformed the landscape. Several "burials" were written off as recent activity of either method mentioned above. I located a possible corral structure on a hill just south of the citadel and beyond this area I also came across three clear walls on a cliff overlooking a deep gorge. There was not much to ascertain here but if this structure is contemporaneous with the citadel complex it would indicate a wide range of occupied space.
