Today we kept excavating locus 4, which was distinguished from locus 2 only in terms of depth to control the distribution of archaeological materials. Locus 2 on the N side of locus 3 was also closed in order to separate the 'internal' (locus 5) and 'external'(locus 4) areas in reference to the 'wall' (locus 3). The materials appear to be less and less frequent as we kept removing both locus 5 and 4. Locus 3 was eventually removed as the stones clearly appeared to be floating within the same light brown deposit (which so far has been excavated as locus 2, 4, 5). Once closed this locus, locus 6 was opened to keep distinguishing the depth distribution of the archaeological materials, although no differences in the matrix were noticed between 6 and the previous loci. The materials are now less frequent and mostly consist of faunal remains. The pottery also keeps yielding mixed LB and EB sherds. Since no cultural layer has so far been detected in the trench, we decided to open a sounding along the E side of the trench, which was named locus 7 and has dimensions of 2.19 x 1 m. The purpose of this sounding is to verify the actual depth of the deposit and hopefully reach bedrock.
According to the current GNSS data, T 45 doesn't seem to be sitting on the anomaly detected by GPR.
