Today we finished removing locus 9 in T45 and reached bedrock in the E half of the trench. The archaeological materials in this layer are very scanty and no evidence has been detected of in situ materials indicating that this could be an indoor area connected to the wall. Given the thickness of the upper deposits in T45 and the problems of displacement of the trench with regard to archaeological features, we decided to momentarily suspend the excavations in this operation.
Operation 46 was opened today on the SW side of Gegharot. The trench measures 3 x 4 m and is located 5 m south of the magnetometry grid and has been placed to follow an anomaly identified by magnetometry. It is located in the proximity of T43, which was originally opened to follow the same anomaly.
