Alright so I've been noticeably not great with journal-ing every day this season -- but let it be known I do it on the days that matter. SO, here we go. Today was an incredibly hot, but productive day in T44. Since Ruben and Armine were otherwise engaged, I benefited from the additional workers. I will concede, it was a bit of a zoo -- especially after three -- chalk it up to dehydration and the heat, but we moved a crapton of soil.
Here's what I have to report: we did a roughly 1.5 x 1.5m probe in the SW corner to see if the wall continues. It turns out that it, in fact, does. We expanded an additional meter west where the wall seems to continue some more. We have yet to find the corner, but it seems like an additional meter expansion is in the future. It would be awesome sauce if we could find a western wall. I'm sure some people in Israel would agree with me as well. (Look Alan isn't here and I have to pick up the pun slack.)
The hopeful pile of stones in the NW corner I uncovered yesterday seemed to be not so hopeful (as a northern wall), but upon cleaning up some of the mess there it is possible that there is some architectural (aka line of stones) beneath the jumble. Only time will tell.
The unit is a bit of a slope -- unsurprising given that it is on a sloe -- but we are starting the process of evening things out. Where we have architecture in the western half of the slope is at a considerably lower elevation (approximately 1.5 meters) than the features in the north. This leads me to believe that the north-south wall is likely at least a meter tall. This also means that we have a minimum of 50cm to remove of the area interior to our two known walls. Looks like our work is cut out for us in the next few weeks!
