Today we kept excavating locus 2 in T46 in order to clarify the situation with locus 3 (W1). The wall appears to be made of two main stone courses and a third stone course emerged towards the end of the day as we were digging through locus 4 (covered by locus 2). However, the orientation of the stones in the third course does not seem to match the structure of the upper courses, thus raising questions about the structure of the wall itself. So far no living floor or cultural layer has emerged in association with W1. In any case, the findings of T46 seem to match the anomalies detected by magnetometry and thus corroborate the efficiency of magnetometry for the identification of sensitive archaeological areas at Gegharot.
