Alright confessions I am writing this journal entry while also watching the world cup, drinking wine, and eating all the chocolate in sight. Things are getting heated in the Project ArAGATS dig house as we all watch our predictions in France v. Croatia falter.
Today at Gegharot rain loomed on the horizon, but nevertheless we persisted. We proceeded to excavate out a ton of dirt, unearthing the collapse from W1 (locus 4 for those of you following closely). We have yet to hit a floor (if there is one) but the density of cultural materials has increased tenfold. Tomorrow we will finish cleaning the tumble and take some photos for good measure.
The trench is looking a lot more level to say the least, which I guess is good for aesthetics. We will see if we near anything in situ tomorrow. While it is unclear if there actually will be an associated floor the architecture -- and scale of the structure -- whatever its function remains impressive.
