It rained last night. I decided to start in WSC, continuing through locus 1, a wash level below topsoil. Switched to locus 2 across the whole trench when I encountered a slightly lighter wash level. Two courses of the west wall of the room gradually were uncovered. Wall fall filled a good part of the northern half of the trench and it took some time to clean these and decide which to remove. These fallen rocks are not very large. Low material quantities in this locus. In WSJ, we reached the bottom of locus 2, a wash level. The gravely/powdery decomposed granite mixed with the orange packed soil is emerging here as it had in locus 3, especially on the east and west sides of the trench. I switched to locus 4 and kept the same division as had existed between 3 and 2. Eventually I think I will merge locus 3 and 4 because they're really the same kind of surface - the decomosed rock and orangish packed clay. Very large rocks on south side of trench - probably a wall, as vislble from the surface before we started to excavate.
