We worked in two trenches today, WSC2 and WSE. In WSC2 we reached what appears to be a floor. It's a yellow clay surface speckled with darker clay patches and bits of charcoal. Some carbon samples were taken from this floor. Adam and I carefully troweled. The surface also has several rocks, some of which appear to have been deliberately placed, particularly a row to the northwest. These rocks are fairly flat. In WSE, we're still in locus 1, a very thick wash level. Found a nail, probably medieval.
