Today is clear and sunny, winds are light. We will begin by removing the only remaining soil above the level of locus 31 in the northern trench extension. This block lies between locus 31 (ashy) and locci 27/28. We will also renovate our staircase and begin excavating locus 31.
Our work has removed the rest of locus 30 and we have removed approximately 15cm from locus 31. We are attempting to flatten locus 31 as we dig it; creating the first flat digging surface in the trench.
